Symposium: Working Together towards Sustainable Island Futures

Dialogue on Environmental Conservation in Micronesia and Potential Partnerships among Pacific Ocean Island Nations

This symposium is the first in a series of symposiums/workshops to be held in Japan, Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, among other Pacific Ocean island states to explore building partnerships towards sustainable island futures.
From a land-based perspective many islands might appear small, however from an ocean perspective, they are large island states. Futures sustainability of large island states in the Pacific Ocean depends on a healthy marine environment. Sharing knowledge sets and perspectives, this symposium will look at future sustainability from a marine perspective exploring sustainable resource use and management potentials amidst the challenges of increasing climate change and biodiversity loss.
