SOPHIA SYMPOSIUM: CHARTING ISLAND SUSTAINABILITY INTERACTIVE DIALOGUE WITH EXPERTS FROM THE CARIBBEAN, MICRONESIA AND JAPAN

Island States are on the front lines of climate change. How to tap into each islands’ biodiversity and cultural knowledge sets to reduce vulnerability and build resilience will be key to developing dynamic adaptive capacities in the face of increasing environmental challenges.
This symposium aims to be an open dialogue among diverse experts from Island States in Micronesia, Japan and the Caribbean as we collectively work together to realize island sustainability for all.

Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies Prof. Akemi Ori and Prof. Anne McDonald along with guest speakers will talk about island sustainability challenges and potentials. Floor will be opened up for Q+A from the audience.
